Phuket
Our land travel trip was nearly over before it started because just outside Phuket the police stopped the bus we were on to check everyone’s passports, but we’d left them back on the boat. Smooth as silk Terry told them they were in our bags in the bus’s hold. Fortunately, they believed us. Boy, was that close! We were away 6 days and went elephant trekking, bamboo rafting, and saw the famous historical Bridge over River Kwai. We feel we are much better at boat travel than we are at land travel but I guess you’ve got to expect that when you don’t start backpacking until you are our age, lol. There’s lots of room for improvement. Bangkok was too busy (15 million people), but I guess we should have visited there before the quieter country towns! We are glad to be back on the boat and looking forward to the Phangna Bay Regatta. We fly into Brisbane on 17th March for a while leaving the boat in Malaysia.
