FATU IVA
Another Ocean conquered!
At first light we arrived at Fatu Iva the most remote island of the Marquesas, with only 600 people living here.
The scenery is stunning – towering obelisk covered in tropical rain forest; it’s like being on a film set of the Lord of the Rings.
After spending 15 days and 20 hours at sea you couldn’t have picked a better landfall.
So far we haven’t yet gone ashore; we have been catching up with sleep and cleaning all the salt off the boat and the marine growth of the hulls. I can’t believe how much marine growth is above the antifoul line, we have even got grass growing on the cork deck on our transom steps.
We have been invited ashore for a meal with cruising friends but after having a couple of drinks to celebrate our arrival all we want to do is to crash out and have an un broken night sleep.
