HASTINGS REEF

Spent 3 nights on the reef , only 24nm NE of Cairns it worked out a good anchorage in 20 knot SE trades.

Dive charter boats came daily into the top and bottom of the reef and we anchored in 17meters mid reef 300 meters out so we swung back only 20 meters from a big bommie at our back door. Now thats delivering service for diving!!

The boat sat comfortably and we had 2 day dives a superb night dive and a couple of snorkels. Andrew sharp eyes found the little critters and took some top pics of nudi’s etc and I used my fisheye on the turtles and coral scenes. Susan enjoyed her snorkeling and could even get DANCING WITH THE STARS ON TV!!
