MILLN REEF
We’ve had a few pleasant days at Dunk Is. and up the Moresby River.
Weather has been more blowy, mostly around 15 -20 knot SE trades .
When we reached Cains forecast was 15-25 but we were hanging out for another reef experience so we stopped over at Milln reef 30nm SE of Cairns for a couple of nights. Pretty secure and we slept well .
First day we were a bit naughty and used a private dive boat mooring at the nth end to get a superb scuba dive right on top of a bommie which dropped to 20 meters. Lots of reef marine life & a good selection of pelagics circling.
Next day was spent down the south end and while Andy slept I did 100 minute dive with the hookah necessitating a 12 minute deco stop to clear the nitrogen. I’m sure glad for dive computers.!! Such a great experience cavorting with a large tame Mario Wrasse and having fun taking heaps of pics from the abundant life on scatted bommies from 8 – 18 meters.
Yesterday Flash Dancer blasted her way to Yorkeys Knob marina averaging nearly 15knots being pushed along by the short steep waves fanned by the 20 knot winds right up our ginger .
